The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna for children aged six months old and up. The approval was granted even though a study found that mRNA vaccines can cause children to suffer from serious vaccine-associated enhanced disease (VAED).
The regulator announced the fast-tracked authorization in a June 17 press release. But even though the two vaccines’ clinical trials were “determined not to be reliable due to the low number of COVID-19 cases that occurred in the study participants,” they were nevertheless granted a EUA.
FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf said of the approvals: “We’re acutely aware of the importance of having vaccines available for our youngest children. As we’ve seen with the older age groups, we expect that the vaccines for younger children will provide protection for the most severe outcomes of COVID-19, such as hospitalization and death.”
The June 17 announcement came two days after the FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee unanimously voted to recommend granting a EUA for the two vaccines.
However, researchers from the University of Colorado conducted a detailed study of two healthy, fully vaccinated young adolescents, who were diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C). MIS-C causes dangerous inflammation in body organs, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin and eyes.
“Eight weeks after having laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 breakthrough infections, two otherwise healthy, fully immunized adolescent patients in the U.S. who were experiencing related signs and symptoms were diagnosed with the multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children,” stated the study published in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention‘s (CDC) Emerging Infectious Diseases journal. “Our findings indicate that COVID-19 vaccination does not completely protect adolescents against MIS.”
The first case involved a 14-year-old boy who reported headaches and myalgia. He then developed a fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, emesis, bloodshot eyes, red cracked lips, and a rash after seven days. The boy was then admitted to a hospital 10 days after reporting the initial ailments.
The boy received two doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine three months before reporting headaches and myalgia. A month after being fully vaccinated, he suffered from coughing and congestion for three days and tested positive for COVID-19 – but subsequently recovered.
An analysis by the hospital’s infectious diseases section determined that the boy’s illness met the CDC’s criteria for MIS-C. He was provided treatments and was discharged after five days in the hospital. However, a cardiology follow-up on the boy after six weeks found an enlargement of his left main coronary artery alongside ongoing fatigue.
The second case involved a 14-year-old girl who reported fever and fatigue, with congestion, cough, myalgias, headaches, nausea, and vomiting. While she tested negative for COVID-19, she was rushed to the hospital after 12 days due to persistent fever, headache, cough and vomiting. She had also received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine three months before her hospitalization.
The girl was repeatedly admitted to and discharged from the hospital after treatment, which included a dose of remdesivir. However, she was taken off the antiviral drug after an ultrasound determined that her kidneys were enlarged. (Related: Dr. Bryan Ardis: Fauci knows remdesivir is KILLING PEOPLE.)
Per the study, the two children were perfectly healthy before being injected with the Pfizer mRNA shot. They later suffered life-threatening conditions after a few months of them being vaccinated.
Still, the FDA ignored the study and proceeded to grant EUA to the two mRNA vaccines.
